Stowmarket Carnival 2012 takes place this year on the 13th, 14th and 15th July with a huge array of events and attractions for all the family at the Recreation Ground. We're helping the carnival out by booking their bands for them. We've got some top acts lined up as you can see! Check out the details below:

Friday 13th July
8pm: Regency Gentlemen.  You can view footage of Regency Gentlemen here.
Regency Gentlemen is a popular Stowmarket-based five-piece rock and indie covers band who play festivals, parties, weddings and pubs throughout Suffolk. So come and join them at Stowmarket Carnival as they're guaranteed to have you jumping around and singing along!

Saturday 14th July
8pm: Ska'd for Life. You can view live footage of Ska'd for life here

The 7-piece ska / reggae juggernaut that is Ska’d4Life formed in 2009 from 7 Musicians who all shared a passion for the energy, power and rhythms of ska music. The band’s reproduction of the authentic upbeat sound and attitude of the music creates an atmosphere of excitement and energy to liven up any venue and ensure that your feet will not be able to stand still. Ska’d4Life’s repertoire features music from artists such as Madness, The Specials and The Beat, transporting you back to the two-tone era. They also put their own spin on the authentic reggae sounds of Bob Marley, Prince Buster, Toots and the Maytals as well as other (reggae) favourites.

Sunday 15th July
1.30pm: Sim Pattison

Simeon is an 18 year old singer songwriter studying music performance at Suffolk New College who, despite having only just started performing, has already started to catch people’s attention. Simeon is a soulful singer with a rhythmic acoustic guitar style who plays predominantly covers – though he always looks to put his own stamp on them. He is gradually introducing more original numbers into his set. Simeon cites Jason Mraz and Damien Rice amongst his biggest influences.

2pm: Lydia Lockyer
Lydia has been performing at open mics and a variety of other events for around 2 years. In 2010 she reached the semi finals of Open Mic UK and went on to release a charity EP in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust which raised over£1000. Influences include Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell, Mumford and Sons and Kirsty MacColl. Lydia attends a sixth form college in Cambridge and plans to study music at a higher level after A levels.

2.30pm: Joe Gibbings
Despite his youth, 17-year old singer/songwriter, Joe Gibbings has already played at a number local venues in the Ipswich area, as well as at Jimmy’s Farm and charity events. At the turn of 2012, Joe released his first EP, ‘Unconscious’, which includes 3 original songs. He has since been writing and recording a new CD featuring a full band made up of other exceptional young musicians. For Stowmarket Carnival, Joe and Harry will be playing an acoustic set of original songs as well as covers. A talented, fun young duo not to be missed.

3pm: Tiny Dragons
Tiny Dragons are a 3 piece alternative soul and funk band from Brighton, fronted by one of the most powerful bass-playing front women in the country! Their energetic feel-good music will get your feet stomping and body sweating.

"A band your want to see over and over." SQ Magazine

4pm: Zoom Club
Stowmarket based Zoom Club play happy, feel-good music featuring both covers and original numbers. The three piece piano-led outfit play a diverse range of styles ranging from swing, to rock and roll to folk. They are have a growing fanbase around East Anglia and are sure to go down well at Stowmarket Carnival.

5pm: Housework
For the past two years they have been capturing the funk, rolling it around in the dirt, and then feeding it steroids. The result is similar to that of a three-way conception between Jamiroquai, the Chili Peppers and Hendrix – now who would not want to see that? Booming bass. Stonking beats. Face-melting guitar. Machine-gun lyrics. Not to be missed. Oh yeah, ask them about their new album too.
