12:00pm Amplitude Acts
We will be kicking off with acts from the Amplitude Project, showcasing some of the young bands and musicians from around the area.
1:20pm OverTheSun (powerpop / rock)
OverThe Sun - Matt, Tom and Adam - have existed since March 2007. They write and perform only songs written by themselves and try and take a fun approach to it all. Having played gigs in all 3 of Britain's most important counties; Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, and having recorded an EP with no professional help, the 3 merry men are looking to spread their word amongst the herd, and go further a field! OverTheSun want everyone to hear their music and dance like their dad.
2:00pm SGR Competition Winner: HipShot (blues / rock / funk)
In 2005, when Shev was looking for a new guitarist, a friend recommended he check out JW Wilmshurst, a prodigiously talented young player who was fast gaining a reputation for himself on the live circuit in East Anglia. Shev snapped him up for a tour of the South of England, where they quickly formed a firm friendship and began writing songs together. The pair spent the best part of two years writing material to order for various US based recording artists, eventually deciding to write an album of songs for themselves. And so Hipshot was born and with the addition of seasoned drummer Dacre Peck, the trio began hitting the boards, finding that their self-penned efforts (sounding like the bastard off-springs of the Spin Doctors and Crowded House) held their own in the bars and clubs of East Anglia, the south coast and northern England.
2:40pm Small Town Bullies (funk / jazz)
Funk, funk and more funk is what the Small Town Bullies are all about. This instrumental band from Woodbridge varies in size but expect six or seven on stage at StowFest, including three or four saxophonists! Small Town Bullies play their own material, all of which is exceptionally funky and bound to get the crowd moving. Among their fans is funk radio DJ (and Lloyd in Coronation Street!) Craig Charles who has not only played them on his radio show but also said very nice things about them!
3:20pm Thankyou Anyway (rock)
Thankyou Anyway are a fresh four-piece rock band with a vast amount of live experience in their years prior to the band. Ranging from small pubs and clubs to venues filled with up to 1000 satisfied fans. Thankyou Anyway have firmly stamped their mark on the live music scene across Brighton and are now spreading their wings further afield. Lead singer Sam Robson originates from Stowmarket and is relishing the chance to bring the band to his home town for such a big event.
“An honorable band with honorable music” Evening Star

“The right work ethic and quality material. I look forward to following Thankyou Anyways’ deserved future success.” Monkey Puzzle House
4:00pm The Ron Sayer Band (blues / rock)
The Band has been together for a few years in various forms performing its particular brand of blues, rock and pop in locals pubs and clubs. Ron has a degree in Classical music (yes, not very rock and roll!) and a grade 8 in both guitar and bass. He trained as a teacher at Cambridge Uni, and as an examiner for Trinity College Rockschool. He was voted 'Guitarist of the Year' in '96 by Guitarist Magazine. Expect an explosive set of blues based rock..... and some exceptional guitar work!

6:00pm The Ballistics (ska / punk / reggae)
The Ballistics are an eight-piece ska band who formed in 2002. During this time they've eaten plenty of pizza and drunk the odd beer, while writing as many songs as possible. Much to their surprise, people seem to enjoy singing along and dancing to these songs. Strange! They've released two albums and have played all over the UK with the likes of The Beat, The Selecter, The Damned, Neville Staples (The Specials) and many more. The band are currently writing material for a third album and gigging whenever they can.
6:40pm Mohawk (rock / alternative / progressive)
Mohawk are a 3 piece spacious rock outfit based in sunny Suffolk. Primarily conceived by Spencer Lee Horton, on the back of his album Moon Reservation, Mohawk covers a retro and modern combo of styles. The Mohawk Tapes is an indication of what the band offers as a live outfit. Music, like life, is subject to and embraces constant change. Mohawk have recorded live sets with BBC Radio Suffolk, and have a growing reputation for their live performances.
