STOWFEST RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY 31ST AUGUST We're delighted to announce that, following the disappointment of having to call off StowFest on Sunday 25th May due to the poor weather, we've managed to reschedule the event to take place on 31st August. We hope to feature the same line up of bands but there may have to be a few substitutions. Please keep checking back for details.
PROBLEMS WITH OUR EMAIL ADDRESS We were wondering why we weren't getting any emails through the "contact us" page on our site - and we've just discovered that it's because the address that it was set up to forward to was wrong! We are really sorry to the many dozens of people that have tried to contact us through the site going back as far as early 2007 - how stupid are we for not noticing earlier? Anyway, to all those bands, artists and businesses who have emailed us through the website, please be assured that we were not ignoring you! We are trawling through all the messages that have been send through the site and although we can't respond to every one, we will respond to those relating to StowFest 2008. Frankly, we are gutted to have created the impression that we just ignore messages as that's just not us!
WHAT IS STOWFEST?
StowFest is a free annual music festival, co-ordinated by Stowmarket Town Council, which takes place on the Recreation Ground in Stowmarket. The purpose of the event is to provide the people of Stowmarket with a quality music event, showcasing some of the best musical talent from around the area. We also aim to raise money for charity with proceeds from commercial pitch fees and programme sales donated to worthy local causes.
The inaugural StowFest was held in June 2007 and was a big success, attracing around 5000 people and featuring some of the region's best live acts including Rosalita (who went on to play at the V-Festival), Kerbslider, The Back Porch Band, Loose Juice, Jason Gigolo and Songs From the Blue House. ABOUT STOWFEST 2008 Firstly, a big thank you to Mid Suffolk District Council for making a significant contribution towards the cost of StowFest 2008.
This years event - originally scheduled for Sunday 25th May from 12pm but rearranged for 31st August- will feature three stages of music: The Buildbase Main Stage, The MAP Acoustic Stage and The Amplitude Stage. Check out the links to the stages in the menu for more information.
Proceeds from the sale of commercial pitches, programmes and from other initiatives will be donated to Operation Santa Claus who will use the funds to support voluntary and community groups in the Stowmarket area.
STOWFEST 2008 CD We have put together a StowFest 2008 Compilation CD featuring songs by artists who are playing at the event. The CD will be on sale on the day for the bargain price of £5 with 100% of proceeds going straight to Operation Santa Claus. The CD will be a genuinely excellent collection of songs, simply because a number of the bands playing at StowFest have all produced some fantastic original recordings.
